Take a step back in time to the golden era of American railroading when you visit this fantastic museum complex in Sugarcreek, Ohio. When you are visiting Holmes County, Ohio, The Age of Steam Roundhouse is a destination that shouldn't be missed.
This museum features a huge collection of railroad equipment including both steam and diesel/electric locomotives as well as rolling stock from around the Country. The roundhouse is also an active, working roundhouse where restoration specialists work to preserve and restore pieces of railroad history. If you enjoy history, machinery, or architecture, this is a must see destination.
The roundhouse and surrounding buildings are magnificent recreations and are period correct in every detail. This fascinating site is anchored by an 18-stall brick and timber frame roundhouse served by a 115-foot turntable. It is well worth the price of admission just to see the buildings.
The Age of Steam Roundhouse hosts a number of special events throughout the year including roundhouse tours, yard tours, youth events, railcar rallies, and more.
As this is a working museum, you can only visit the roundhouse during a guided tour. Please be sure to check the Age of Steam's Web site: https://ageofsteamroundhouse.org/ for details of when tours are offered.
